Bellingham School’s family engagement team donate to help families meet basic needs

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Non-English speaking families in Bellingham Schools get extra help from the district and others, including a furniture store owner.

The district’s family engagement team assists families with basic needs, everything from clothes and furniture to toothpaste.

Elie Samuel is a Bellingham resident who owns Samuel’s Furniture in Ferndale.

He provides employees and trucks to deliver furniture.

And when there’s not enough furniture to go around, he donates tables, beds, chairs, dressers and sofas to families.

He also established two scholarships for Latino students at Bellingham Public Schools.

That inspired two others to do the same, making it five scholarships in all.

Samuel’s Furniture Removal Program

Samuel’s Furniture has partnered with the Family Resource Center to support families in need within our local community!

Now, when Samuel’s delivers your new furniture, our delivery team has the opportunity to offer removal of your old, unwanted furniture at a nominal cost.

With a small, $25 fee per piece (donated to the Bellingham School District’s Family Resource Center) your unwanted merchandise may be offered to help Bellingham families find local resources needed – in an effort to help meet basic needs and promote student success. If the furniture is in good condition, it is given to a family in need through Family Resource Center. Samuel’s is proud to partner with Family Resource Center to support families in our local community.

* Some exclusions apply. Please see your Samuel’s sales associate for details. Samuel’s furniture reserves the right to refuse furniture removal if merchandise is deemed not acceptable as a donation.
